Postdoc position available at BU's Life & Environmental Sciences Department

We have a unique postdoc position available at Bournemouth University's Life and Environmental Sciences Department. The postdoc will work for 1 year Full-Time or 2 years 0.5FT with staff across our department to develop evidence of the impact of our research. That includes the work we do at LEAP but also various other research in Environmental Studies and Geography so the ideal person has a multi-disciplinary interest and understands the importance of the societal and economic impact of research beyond academia.

Salary: Starting salary from £28,936 - £33,518 per annum (pro rata) with further progression opportunities to £36,613

The Faculty of Science and Technology is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to undertake a significant role in the review and evaluation of the societal and economic impact of our research. Based in the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, this is an opportunity for a competent researcher to undertake work to understand the impact of our research in the area of environmental studies and geography.

You will work with staff in the Department and the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office to plan and deliver the investigation, evaluation and demonstration of the impact of our research. Our key areas of research impact include ecology, conservation and biogeography. You will be responsible for building upon previous and current activities to identify, plan and develop the focus for future activities, and support us to define and develop a body of practice that we could disseminate more widely. You will take a leading role in the dissemination of research findings and will establish and support innovative forms of public engagement.

You will have demonstrable research experience in an area relevant to the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences and need to be self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative as well as in a team. You will need highly developed communication skills and be able to work under pressure.

The post is available on either a 12-month full time, fixed term basis or a 24 month part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term basis.
