During my studies in biology, I developed a broad interest for primate behavioural ecology and human evolution. I am passionate about studying the behaviour of primates in their natural habitats, which became evident to me during my two field-based research internships with primates: Between March and December 2011 I did an internship with chimpanzees at the Seringbara study site in the Nimba Mountains in Guinea, West Africa, and between January and July 2013 I did an internship with vervet monkeys at the Inkawu Vervet Project in the Mawana Game Reserve in South Africa. I am also particularly fascinated by the close evolutionary links between primates and humans. My PhD research at Bournemouth University focuses on studying the landscape-scale habitat use of chimpanzees in different landscapes, and aims to use this as a tool in chimpanzee conservation and for understanding early hominins. I will combine data collection through literature review and field work in Issa Valley, Ugalla, Tanzania, with an individual-based modelling approach.
