Excursion up the river in search of the primary forest

After visiting Bukit Lawang we went back to Sikundur and we travelled up the river near our Sikundur field site to see the state of the primary forest further up river and deeper into the Gunung Leuser National Park. Although Ross, Susanna and I could only go for two nights, Chris Marsh and Emma Hankinson will be camping out for much longer as part of their research projects this year. Our little trip helped us plan their field work a little better and we could revisit a site where Eva Knop and Serge Wich have previously done an orang-utan density count and a forest inventory.
